What skip size will I need?

We have a page on our website detailing the different skip sizes we provide, each showing different measurements you may be familiar with including how many black bags could be filled to represent the size of the skip. Feel free to call us if you have any further questions.

How long can I keep the skip for?

We usually allow our skips to be hired for 7 days, but can arrange a longer time period if required.

I don't have a driveway, or anywhere to place the skip. Can it be placed on the road?

We can arrange the council permit to allow skip hire on your road. The permit cost varies across different council boroughs, please call us for up-to-date permit prices. Please allow 5-7 days for the council permit to be processed.

Can the Council refuse the permit?

It has been known to happen, but more often than not permits are accepted. Alternatively we do provide a Wait & Load service, where our driver will wait with the the skip, while you fill it up.

How much can be put in a skip?

When loading your skip, please do not fill above the top of the skip, as it will not be accepted.

Can I put anything into a skip?

No, please do not put lead acid batteries, fridges, freezers, electrical appliances, asbestos, plasterboard, gas bottles, paints & solvents and tyres into our skips. If you are still unsure about the items you can throw away, please call us to discuss further.

Is my waste disposed of correctly after you collect the skip?

Thames Skips is a licensed waste transfer station, so you can rest assured your waste is sorted, and disposed of correctly. All items that can be recycled will be.

Do you offer waste disposal services for builders and contractors?
